31 March 2009 - 21:25Back to Work

After a relaxing spring break, it’s back to work for me. This past week, we spent four nights in Black Butte getting away from work craziness. We also had friends come and visit us. While most of our vacation was filled with eating and laziness, we did get to do some fun things. We went for walks, went hiking along the Metolious River, went swimming, went hot tubbing and played games. It was a wonderful four days, but not its back to reality.

22 March 2009 - 22:16Break Time

Two full days of spring break have gone by quickly. I spent the weekend playing soccer, dog sitting, playing video games, building Legos, baby sitting and seeing Slumdog Millionaire and Bed Time Stories.

I have a few more days to relax here in Eugene, then we are headed for Black Butte on Thursday with some friends. Definitely enjoying my spring break so far!

15 March 2009 - 18:29On the Mend

Well after being out of work for a week and being sick for over a week, I finally feel like I am on the mend. I’m not yet over this sickness, as I am still sleeping for 12-14 hours per day to rest up my body. But for now, the fever is down and now I am just stuck with some congestion, a cough and some tiredness. Whatever this virus is, I wish it on no one. I have never been so sick in my life.

The weekend was filled with lots of relaxing, sleeping and good friends. Friday night we had a yummy dinner at Papa’s Soul Food with one couple and Saturday night we made dinner at home with another couple. It was a perfect weekend…and only one more week until spring break!

9 March 2009 - 19:22Nasty Virus

So this is what the doctor told me I had. Not sure if that is a technical term, but whatever it is, it’s cramping my style. So another day at home to feel better.

8 March 2009 - 20:58Down with the Sickness

I quite often get sick. But my body is really good at the 24 hour cold. I get sick for one day then I’m fine. I am used to this.

Well this weekend, I was (and still am) hit with a sickness that has lasted more than 24 hours. I was not feeling well on Friday at work. So I came home right away and slept. I woke up Saturday morning with 102 fever, sore throat, cough, congestion, chills, sweats, dizziness, headache and joint pain…symptoms I have never had all together. My temperature has fluctuated between 98.6 (only with the help of ibuprofen) to 103.2 all weekend. I have spent all my time on the couch or in bed. I can’t get rid of the fever with home treatment so I plan to head to the doctor tomorrow.

1 March 2009 - 22:28The Love of the Game

Soccer is still my sport of choice and with each game I play, the more I love the game. The past two seasons I have played on both a co-ed team and a womens team. The womens team is comprised of women I have played with before on various teams, but my co-ed team is mainly filled with new players to me. Previously, I had played with the ‘llamas’, but I have had the opportunity to play with a new team. It’s nice to switch things up now and again…but don’t give me wrong, I still love my llamas. What has been exciting on my co-ed team is that I am getting to play forward…which means scoring goals. So far this season, I have scored 3 goals, which was my previously cumulative total from the past three years. I’m getting an opportunity to play in different positions and it is dramatically helping my game. I love soccer!

1 March 2009 - 11:28Sushi, Sushi, Sushi

Over the past few years, I have come to enjoy sushi. I used to think it was gross and wouldn’t even try to eat it. In the past four days, I have had sushi three times for dinner. True I am still not very adventurous, but I have learned to enjoy sushi. Nigri sushi is still too much for me…but I think it mainly is the consistency of the fish that bothers me the most. I really enjoy sushi rolls some vegetarian and some with fish. In fact my favorite type of sushi is the vegetarian kind…which some would argue that is it not really sushi because it doesn’t have fish. The ‘Guido’ from Sushi Domo here in Eugene, and Inari would have to be my favorite sushi to much on. Both very simple yet tasty. So simple it is easy to make at home…which the ‘llamas’ tend to do a sushi night every now and again. If anyone is ever up for sushi, call me!
