23 January 2009 - 10:15Much Needed Weekend Away

I’m taking my first personal day today and spending the weekend away with Adam for his extended birthday. Not bringing my computer and not doing any work this weekend. I need a weekend away. Talk to you all when I get back!

A surprise of a beautifully framed picture above the bed and yellow roses on my night stand.

11 January 2009 - 21:24Death Star

I am in love a little kid in a grown man’s body. Adam enjoys Legos, and his most recent purchase of his was the Death Star. With over 3600 pieces, the project has taken over the man cave. With all of our tupperware being used to hold the organized pieces, Adam has set up a functional work station for his Death Star. I am documenting this process through pictures. Keep checking back!

6 January 2009 - 19:09Honored

Today I was asked to make a power point presentation to our district’s Board of Directors on my classroom. I feel quite honored to be able to give a few minutes of my time to talk about my classroom and classroom system. I must be doing something right.

4 January 2009 - 21:09Splash of Color

The first weekend of the year brought the first house project of the year. This weekend my mom, my sister and Adam’s mom came down to help our paint our ‘feature wall‘ (the wall with the fireplace). We painted the wall ‘dried parsley’, but it looks like yummy avocado. Adam and I are both impressed with the immense craftsmanship, the color and the overall product. We also sanded and painted my sofa table black. Painting is a new endeavor for me, so I was anxious about the project, but thrilled with the outcome.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a year of projects, both inside and outside the house.

4 January 2009 - 10:34Poor Mom and Dad

Astrology is something I find fascinating, but something on which I have never placed great emphasis. A few years ago, a friend bought me the book, The Secret Language of Relationships. In this book, people can compare their birthdays to see their compatibility. Here is what this book said about my sister and I:

“Siblings in this combination [Cancer II-Sagittarius II] are likewise often more than a conservative family setting can handle; in this kind of relationship there is no guarantee that the pair will get along at all, so that parents and other relatives often have to cope not just with a strange relationship but with two distinct ‘weirdos’.”

We are also 150 degrees apart in the zodiac. Our worst relationship is family.

Oh well, I still love my sister!
