30 September 2007 - 21:31Good Times with Friends and Family

Friday and Saturday brought good friends and family. With the much-anticipated Cal vs. Oregon football game, we had a full house on Friday night. My dad came down Friday evening, followed by Nicole and Jake, and Sarah and Andy all from Portland (Sarah and Nicole are good high school friends). With a full house on Friday, my dad and sister made a delicious home made spaghetti dinner. We all sat around ate and drank wine. It was so good to catch up with my girls since our visits are few and far between.

Bright and early on Saturday morning everyone was up early to get down to Autzen for the ESPN Game Day program. Everyone headed down early, except for me. I enjoyed laying on the couch until game time. My dad and sister went down early to see all the excitement, while I watched all the excitement on my comfy couch.

The football game was great, for the most part. Even though the Ducks couldn’t pull it out in the end, it was a fun and exciting game. I wish that end result could have been more positive, but I have to give credit to Cal’s well-executed game.

Post game, my dad and friends headed back to Portland, and I spend some more time with my sister. She took me to Grab ‘N Go, in which I benefited from her extra points…which I hope could be a weekly tradition. I am very proud of my sister. She has taken on a tough course load for her first year in college, and she is doing well. Week one down, nine and finals to go…

26 September 2007 - 22:09“Congraulations, you just bought a home”

OMG! I just bought my first house! I am so excited! Needless to say, I’m experiencing every emotion….happy, scared, excited, overwhelmed, exhausted, nervous and elated. But overall, I am very excited. I can’t believe that all my months of searching and waiting for this house has paid off.

I first looked at this house about six weeks ago, during my weekends of multiple open houses. I came across this house and the house immediately intrigued me. After spending about 45 minutes in the house with the real estate agent, I fell in love with the house. A few days later, I put in an offer. Unfortunately, the seller wanted more than I was willing to pay at the time. As Chris had remind me over the years, often times when you wait for something, it will eventually happen. And he was right.

The middle of last week, the price of the house dropped again, and another open house allowed Chris to see the house. He was not such a fan of the house, but said it was very much an “Erin” house. After talking with my agent, I submitted an offer on Tuesday late afternoon. So Wednesday, I was waiting anxiously by the phone after hearing the listing agent was meeting with the sellers at 10:30am. By 1:00pm, I was starting to get worried about it and called my agent. No word. At about 2:00, I got a text message, “Congratulations, you just bought a home.” The sellers had another offer and my offer was chosen over the other offer! So now I have a house! I went over to sign the agreement, and then went to secure my loan. And now the never-ending paperwork stage begins.

The closing date is October 22nd, so my plan is to move on Sunday, October 28th, so mark your calendars!

Here are the house details:
Built in 1999
1581 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Living room, laundry room, nook and kitchen
Two car garage
Forced air and a gas fireplace
Vaulted ceilings in living room and master
Master with walk in closet, bay window, ceiling fan and bath with jetted tub
Fenced yard with a deck, sprinklers and a dog run

23 September 2007 - 8:12Long Overdue Update

With not having a blog for the past few months, I decided it was time for a serious update.

Work
The beginning of the year has been quite trying for me. After last year, I knew the key to being ready for school was to come in early to begin to prepare my classroom. So this year, I got in early to my classroom and began to get myself ready for the school year. I was so proud of myself when I was done with my room a week before school. Then about three days before school was to start, I was told I had to move my classroom and office down to the opposite end of the school. Nothing like one big giant stressor before school starts. Miraculously, my room was decorated and ready to go on the first day of school (much thanks to my educational assistants who helped me). I started this year with seven students. Sometimes my class feels like seven, and sometimes it feels like seventy. This year has started off with lots of explosive and unsafe behaviors. Each day, I adjust, tighten and change my classroom to meet the needs of my student. It is becoming so true that my students shape my class.

Oh yeah, I decided to quit Bath and Body Works. I only worked about once a month, but the days I had to work always feel on the worst of days. So I lose my discount, but I gain some Sunday evenings back.

Sister
My sister, Rebecca, has come down to U of O for college. She begins her freshman year, and I can tell she is already enjoying herself. She is all moved in and ready to begin her college career. I look forward to seeing her more.

Soccer
Once again, I am playing soccer. Currently I am on a women’s and a co-ed outdoor time. With indoor season coming up, I will also be on a women’s and a co-ed team. Playing soccer has become a passion of mine and it is a great stress release from my stressful days at work.

House
I am still continuing the house hunt. I have my eyes on a few houses as I wait for the sellers to move down in price. There are still lots of properties on the market in Eugene, but nothing I am overly excited about.

Friends
Brad and Sara got married on September 22nd. I wish them the eternal happiness and love in their new life together.

23 September 2007 - 7:51Moving On…

Chris and I have decided that it is time to move on and be just friends. We both have great respect for each other, and we have realized that we are going different directions and a close friendship is the best fit for us.

To my friends-I appreciate all your love and support you have given me and will continue to give me.

To my family-Thank you for always being there for me whenever I have needed you.

To Chris-Thank you for all that you have done for me over that past three years; and all that you will continue to do as a friend. I hope your path in life will lead you to success, happiness and love.
